Legal Geek is the leading legal innovation conference where 2000 attendees from across the globe participate in a two-day symposium packed with insightful keynotes, interactive workshops and non-stop networking opportunities.
And because we care about providing our clients with the latest insights and innovations in the legal field, we had to be there!
Therefore we headed downtown London to see what the fuss is about, and you could say we won the prize for the “Geekiest hoodies in London“.

These are the 5 things we learned during the LEGAL GEEK conference:

LESSON #1: AI IS NOT REPLACING YOUR JOB; YOU NEED TO WORK WITH IT
Indeed, AI shouldn’t be just nice to have, but you should use it to serve the business.
If we take lawyers for example, as much as legal analysis plays an important role in their work, project management plays also a huge important part.
AI has its benefits when used in conjunction with the law: its effective role activates by adopting a holistic approach alongside other processes & solutions.
LESSON #2: LEGAL OPERATIONS: DON’T RUN BEFORE YOU CAN WALK
Before you rush into implementing the biggest & brightest legal tech tool out there, make sure you do your homework!
Start by making sure that your legal ops are in place:
- Billing
- Processes
- Templates
LESSON #3: IS IT TRUE THAT UGLY, BORING AND SERIOUS BUILD TRUST?
If Technology taught us one thing, it’s that:
Modern, Simple & Intuitive designs build Trust!
And we couldn’t agree more.
The first example that comes to my mind is my ugly, boring & serious administrative law books that were just horrible to digest. I surely trusted the book, but would some
There’s a better way to assimilate legal information through “INFORMATION DESIGN” which translates into the use of:
- Colors
- Typography
- Graphics and charts
to help the reader have a seamless experience and navigate easily his way through information.
So does legal have to be serious? Not really! And legal design is here to prove just.
LESSON #4: DON’T LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMER!
People lie about what they think. YES YOU HEARD US RIGHT!
People don’t do what they actually say they do.
Truth be told: Customers hire a product to complete a job they need to be done.
If you are able to identify what jobs your customers are trying to hire for with the products that they are using, and study their behavior, you will be able to design a product that resonates well with your customers.
Here’s an example: Legal departments “hire” legal tech tools in hopes to accelerate, automate & innovate. But is it always the case?
At Legile, we advise you to identify the jobs you are hiring a legal tech solution for, and then consider: is a people or a tech solution best placed for this job?
LESSON #5: WHAT’S BEST: TECH OR PEOPLE SOLUTION?
There’s no one answer fits all here:
You have to understand the problem you are trying to solve…
Tech is not always the answer to everything, as a matter of fact, it can be detrimental from a financial perspective. Study your processes and assess.
As a tech-agnostic partner, Legile will assess your processes to make sure you always make the right decision between the two!
